Lorena holds a degree in Psychology, specializing in Social Psychology (Complutense University of Madrid). She also holds a Master’s in Humanistic Experiential Psychotherapy and a Master’s in Emotion-Focused Psychotherapy (Comillas Pontifical University, Madrid), along with a specialization in Positive Psychology for building resilience from the University of Pennsylvania.
She has completed a wide range of trainings as a therapist and facilitator, including Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE), and Energy Psychology.
Her additional training includes Somatic Experiencing (Intermediate Level II), Eye Movement Integration (EMI), Focusing, the Enneagram, Internal Family Systems, as well as specialized TRE training for sexual abuse and gender-based violence, and TRE for children.
She has also studied Bioenergetics and Integrative Psychotherapy, and is certified as a practitioner in Dog-Assisted Therapy.
Lorena dedicates her life to supporting and protecting people in deeply vulnerable situations, especially in contexts where pain and hope exist side by side.
Her vocation begins at a young age, guided by a deep commitment to both human beings and the natural world.
She has carried out her professional work in different countries across Africa, the Americas, and Spain, combining therapeutic practice with international cooperation projects.
Since 2006, she has lived between Spain and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where she has led impactful initiatives such as the community program “Mazingila,” designing and overseeing dozens of projects focused on mental health, social development, and environmental protection.
Her work in the Congo has been especially meaningful, supporting children affected by violence, former child soldiers, and communities deeply impacted by trauma.
She has also trained local professionals and provided psychological support to eco-guards in national parks, helping them manage the stress of a high-risk profession.
More recently, she has co-created the MUTIMA Psychosocial Center, where hundreds of people have been able to receive psychological and psychiatric care in a safe and supportive environment.
In April 2023, she published her first autobiographical novel, Animal Loves, where she shares her experiences as a psychologist in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
She currently combines her psychotherapy practice (in Spanish, French, and English) with training professionals in psychological resilience in different parts of the world.
She remains actively involved in humanitarian projects and is currently working on her next book.
